Rotorua 2.

Rotorua continued to surprise this afternoon. We went into the town which appeared to be a very insignificant if not boring little lakeside town. To our surprise we found an exhibition of Leonardo da Vinci drawings of machines and robots together with machines that have been constructed by modern engineers to exact plans by Leonardo. We were able to handle and manipulate the machines, gears, pulleys etc. Quite fascinating!

The day was not yet done. In the evening we visited the Tamaki Maori Village. A most unusual experience! We took part in several Maori ceremonies, the men were taught the Haka and the women were taught the poi dance, both lessons with limited success.

There was quite a lot of role playing and then we were treated to a traditional Hangi, a  Maori feast.  A very different day and evening!
