Chengdu

A quiet day today, we flew from Guilin to Chengdu. We were reassured to know that we were flying from a civilised airport.

In fact Chengdu does seem like quite a nice city with wide tree lined streets and a mix of old and new buildings. We are staying in a modern skyscraper.

This evening some of us went to a traditional Chinese Opera, the costumes were spectacular but it was difficult to follow the action.

We were served tea throughout the show and could have had a massage at the same time or even had our ears cleaned! Part of the show was the traditional angry wife berating the henpecked husband.

The final act was called Changing Faces. The actors flick a fan and the masks change, very clever and original.
